The second generation, Yodoya Koan, established a rice market at his shopfront, which later developed into the Dojima Rice Market. He also exerted a profound influence on the formation and development of Osaka's three major markets, including the Kyobashi Vegetable Market and the Sashioba Fish Market, laying the foundation for Osaka as a commercial hub.
However, in 1705 (the second year of the Hoei era), the shogunate confiscated all his property, leading to the tragic demise of the Yodoya family.The current Yodoyabashi Bridge was completed as part of Osaka City's First Urban Development Project, following a design competition.
