  The history of Kōrai Bridge is said to have begun when it was constructed over the outer moat during the construction of Osaka Castle by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. During the Edo period, Kōrai Bridge boasted a particularly high status even among the “Kōgi-bashi” bridges directly managed by the shogunate.
